Seven steps are required to reach the building's elevator. Just outside the front door is an osteria with outdoor seating. It's open for lunch and dinner. The keyholder can also provide good dining suggestions such as Ada's, a restaurant run by two elderly women where you set your own table and pick up your food from the kitchen. You'd better do as mamma says.

Since Rome's Termini station is nearly two miles away, we recommend a cab on arrival day. Buses to all of the leading attractions stop within 200 yards. Within a 400 yard stroll is the Pantheon or Campo dei Fiori.

A half mile walk leads to the Trevi Fountain or Castel Sant'Angelo and within three quarters of a mile are the Spanish Steps and Via dei Condotti.
