General Description
Preboggion in Genovese dialect means a mix of at least seven wild herbs, among them: pimpernel, wild beet, sow-thistle, dog-tooth, rampion, nettle, dock, ribgrass and borage that are used to fill the pansotto. These round ravioli once filled with preboggion are served with a walnut sauce and make a nourishing dish. The recipe dates back to the Crusades and was perfected on the hills of Recco. The villa, like its name, is unique and satisfying.

The views of the sea are front and center. To the left, the Portofino promontory juts out into the sea with Camogli at its feet. Standing on the villa's huge, private terrace and looking straight down from the railing are large boulders lapping up the gentle waves.

Villa Preboggion is a large, comfortable and simply furnished home. Maid service and meals may be requested when booking. The house is on a dead end street in a neighborhood of similar homes. While the local train passes within 40 feet, only the bedroom with two single, joinable beds faces the tracks. The rest enjoy splendid sea views.

Half a mile away is Recco with good food, gelati and Ezio's American-style bar. Only hardy types, who don't mind the half mile long walk each way to all shopping or dining venues as well as a complete reliance on commuter rails for day trips, can consider not having a car. With or without car, this villa is a great base from which to see the Riviera.

Santa Margherita, Camogli or the A12 entrance are all within 10 minutes by car; Portofino: 15; Rapallo: 20; Genova: 30; Monte Carlo, Lucca or Pisa: 120. Milan's airport is two and a half hours away.
