General Description
To the ancient Greeks and Romans, nine beautiful goddesses, known as muses were charged with enlightening humans with knowledge of the arts. Our words for music, mind and museum stem from the muses. Fortunate are those chosen to seek their inspiration.

Muse del Lago (pronounced: moo-seh) sits across the street from Lierna's pebbly beach overlooking Lake Como and across to Bellagio, Menaggio and the alpine passes leading to Switzerland. Newly restored, this modern building is made up of eight units, one is occupied by the owner. We selected two on the upper floors facing the glory of the lake from furnished balconies.

While being in town allows you to walk to restaurants, cafés and shops within a few hundred yards, city sounds are unavoidable. Not even the muses can help with festive summer beachgoers and the music emanating from the beachside café. But then music is what muses are all about so why not join in?

Guests of Muse del Lago share a barbecue, an elevator with one small entrance step and a garage with a space for each unit. Each unit's interior is air conditioned, modern and comes with a washing machine.

Of the two units, Calliope's higher price reflects a larger living area, dining space for eight, a separate kitchen, a unit wide sound system, heated bedroom floors and slightly more decoration than Tersicore. Maid service, bicycle and boat rentals may be arranged when booking.

The nearest restaurant is 100 yards away, and the town's center with a market, bakery, butcher, fruit store, café bar and another restaurant is within 500 yards. Every Wednesday morning, a local cheese stand sets up along the promenade. Hikers can pick up the last portion of the trail from Lecco to Varenna that passes the falconer's castle of Vezio.

Varenna with more shops and dining is 10 minutes away by car; Abbadia Lariana: 15; ferries to Bellagio or Menaggio in 20; Lecco: 25; Valsassina: 40; Como: 60; Bergamo: 70; Milan or St. Moritz: 120.
