General Description
Several years ago, when three brothers purchased Villa la Quinta it was merely a shell. After considerable effort, money and inspiration, Villa la Quinta has been restored to a level surpassing its former glory. Today, this wonderful property has six independent apartments, three of which are home to the intrepid brothers and their children. The remaining three units are for our non-smoking guests to enjoy.
All apartments share the spacious lawn, gardens and terraces surrounding the villa that are meticulously kept and offer devastating lake views. Even the neighbor's friendly dog comes to enjoy the scenery. At the end of the grounds, 300 yards away, is a small, furnished rocky cove with direct lake access.
The interiors feature original terracotta floors, period antique furnishings and modern conveniences such as satellite television, a washing machine and air conditioning. Arco’s living room enjoys a view of the lake, a fireplace and beautifully restored ceiling frescoes. While Torrelago and Moka are cozy in size and without living rooms each has something else to offer. Torrelago has access to a viewing tower with standing panoramic lake vistas. Moka has its own cobblestone patio with lake views.
Each unit offers high speed Internet connectivity, at no charge, for those with laptops. Maid service may be requested when booking.
Villa la Quinta's neighborhood is within walking distance of two hamlets on the outskirts of Bellagio. A 10 minute walk on a nearby footpath leads to San Giovanni for a stop at the village grocer. The fishing village of Loppia and the entrance to the world renowned, English-style gardens of Villa Melzi are approximately half a mile away.
This property is located along the main road connecting Como to Bellagio with Moka’s entrance being just a few feet from the road. By car, Bellagio is within a five minute drive. There is a bus stop within 150 yards with service to both Como and Bellagio until dusk.
The brothers who own the villa have a wine shop in the center of Bellagio. Buy a 5 Euro card and drink it down by sampling a variety of wines ranging from .9 to 2.5 Euros per taste. Samples come with an explanation of the origin and composition of the wine.
From Bellagio, car and passenger ferries traverse the lake daily until the early evening hours. Visits to Menaggio, Cadenabbia and Tremezzo as well as scenic tours of the entire lake may be undertaken and enjoyed this way. By way of a combination of ferry and scenic drives, Lugano, Switzerland may be reached in just over an hour and St. Moritz within 2 hours. Milan airport is only a 90 minute drive away.
