General Description
La Cantina will forever be remembered. Aside from being beautifully positioned for multiple Tuscan and Umbrian day trips, this is an exciting destination for the wine lovers in your group. Welcome to a world of exquisite Merlot and Syrah wines where dapples of plump grapes hang low enough to almost dip into the pool, and olive trees come close enough to shade them.

An extensive and thoughtful renovation incorporated quality materials and high end furnishings to create a sophisticated country home. Perfect for entertaining, gourmet cooking and dining, La Cantina is ideal for those seeking an easy country setting with all the grace and style of a comfortable hotel.

As the name implies, La Cantina is at the very heart of a boutique winery. Beneath the home sits the estate’s wine aging cellars accessed from a separate outside entrance. Need one bottle or a few? Look no further than your own stocked wine pantry and pay only for what you consume. Meet the vintners, arrange a private wine tasting and revel in each cycle of this ancient rite of cultivation. Fear not, no one will ever ask you to pick, stomp or store grapes as you richly relax by the pool. Just enjoy the show!

This perfectly balanced, non-smoking home features air conditioning, window screens and English language movie channels amidst vaulted ceilings, wide brick archways and terracotta floors. Just as nicely furnished outside, guests may dine overlooking splendid views, lounge by the pool or try their hand at the wood fired brick oven and grill. Four bicycles are provided for guests’ enjoyment. Meals and cleaning service may be arranged when booking.

Day trips from La Cantina are a breeze. The local access road borders the property and leads to the Etruscan hill town of Cortona within an easy and scenic 20 minute drive. Once there, all manner of shops and restaurants are bound to tempt you along with the Saturday morning outdoor market. During the entire month of May, Cortona celebrates its ancient heritage with festivals and song culminating in a medieval crossbow competition on the last Sunday.

The entrance to the A1 highway is within a 10 minute drive. For the shoppers, a 15 minute drive leads to the designer outlets in nearby Valdichiana. The wine capital of Montepulciano lies 25 minutes away as do the sandy shores of Lake Trasimeno. Arezzo with a lively historic district and a prestigious antiques fair held on the first Sunday of each month is within 40 minutes as is medieval Pienza; Perugia: 45; Siena or Assisi: 60; Florence: 75; Rome: two hours.
