General Description
Spoleto is a hauntingly beautiful city - a miniature version of old Rome and a medieval hill town, all rolled into one. Every palazzo tells a story. Its beauty is intensified when seen from above. Until we found this home, I had never seen Spoleto, like this, in all of its glory.

Just five minutes outside of Spoleto heading uphill on a paved road, we reached the start of an unpaved lane and wound our way up as if on an upended pretzel. In minutes, we were inside the gates greeted by a forest of wildflowers.

On this olive oil producing estate, there are three homes: this small, two story cottage made for two, delightful Marina on the prior page and another property where the owners reside with their three dogs. Everyone, except the friendly canines, share the barbecue.

Built on sloping ground, one can enter either floor from outside. I preferred going out rather than twizzling on the spiral stairs inside. But the draw here are the warm inviting colors, the privacy of the little garden, the views over creation from the grounds and the simplicity of it all. There's a fireplace, window screens and a compact yet well equipped kitchen. Meals and maid service may be requested when booking.

By car, Spoleto is 5 minutes away; Trevi or Terni: 30; Spello, Montefalco or Norcia: 40; Assisi or Todi: 45; Perugia or Rieti: 60; Rome, Ascoli Piceno or L'Aquila: two hours.

Ground floor: Two steep steps into living/dining room with fireplace. Kitchen corner with stove top, oven and fridge. Half bath with washing machine.

First floor: Spiral steps or five steps from outside. One bedroom with a queen size bed. One bathroom with shower.
